Abu Dhabi-UAE: 11 October, 2024 - The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) has launched its first STEM drone program in collaboration with the Drone Champions League (DCL) for young high school students aged between 14 -17 years. The program will accommodate around 100 students across two cohorts.
The objective of the STEM drone program is to equip students with essential 21 st - century skills as well as identify talents who may excel in drone building, flying and programming. The program will offer high-quality content that is globally recognized and will be an opportunity for students to connect with industry leaders and gain insights from top experts.
The STEM drone program will consist of online courses and in-person practical experience over a three-month period. The curriculum will focus on an introduction to drone technology to understand the basics; on learning how to build and fly drones with hands-on workshops; and on drone data analysis.
Students interested in the program are invited to meet the STEM team at the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) one of the largest and most important robotics research conferences in the world, from 14-18 October 2024, at ADNEC, learn more about the curriculum and witness how a drone is built first- hand at the A2RL X DCL demonstrations. Additionally, flight demos will highlight the latest innovations in drone autonomy and flight technology, giving participants a firsthand look at cutting-edge advancements in the field.
Students exhibiting the best flight performance during the STEM program will be selected to showcase their skills at the A2RL X DCL Autonomous Drone Challenge in April and will be awarded certificates upon successful completion of the program.
Students and schools are invited to register their interest to join cohort 2 by contacting a2rl@dcl.racing.
